just been reading an archaeology of supernatural places: the case of west penwith by christopher tilley and wayne bennett and came across this stone today built into the ringed embankment at treryn dinas promontory fort at treen. it is natural stone of the sort discussed in the article with its solutions basin – ‘water from the gods’ – and the part these might have played in prehistory as part of processional and ceremonial activity. situated very close to a possible neolithic stone circle also incorporated into the embankment.
