higher drift long stones. triganeeris sisters. first recorded by w borlase in 1754 and some 100 years was excavated by his direct descendant william copeland borlase, finding a pit between the two stones. no burial artefact found. they align NNW / SSE and are 2.6m and 2.3m high and 4.9m apart. they are intervisible with the tresvennack pillar also with a similar burial pit in with a cremation urn was found. although the alignment is not directly towards the pillar if as you can see from this photo the two stones form a clear sight line through which the tresvennack pillar can be located. this is a more likely way in which these monuments are tied together and would have been used as part of way making in prehistory |
