king arthur’s hall. king arthur’s down, bodmin moor. instinct suggests a late #neolithic #gatheringplace, a #memorypalace, a #cosmologicalsite from which to contemplate the skys, it’s stories and myths. the #sun, #moon and #stars reflected in and reflected upon within the #sacredpool which lies at its centre. the pool fed by an active spring is surrounded by a large rectangular court of #standingstones. each of the #stones perhaps standing in for members of the moor’s #ancientsettlements to the north and east, representing both the living and the dead. gathered together at the poolside in acts of #remembrance and #storytelling, the #ancientwisdoms recalled by the elders and imparted on to new initiates. a #memoryloci, where this #ancientknowledge is collected, stored and retrieved. |
