alan ernest sorrell (11 february 1904 – 21 december 1974) was an english artist and writer best remembered for his archaeological illustrations, sorrell’s postcard stonehenge
higher drift long stones. triganeeris sisters.
higher drift long stones. triganeeris sisters. first recorded by w borlase in 1754 and some 100 years was excavated by his direct descendant william copeland borlase, finding a pit between the two stones. no burial artefact found. they align NNW / SSE and are 2.6m and 2.3m high and 4.9m apart. they are intervisible with the tresvennack pillar also with a similar burial pit in with a cremation urn was found. although the alignment is not directly towards the pillar if as you can see from this photo the two stones form a clear sight line through which the tresvennack pillar can be located. this is a more likely way in which these monuments are tied together and would have been used as part of way making in prehistory
