The site is also known as the nine maidens or the dancing stones. buller in 1842 records 21 stones, twelve of which were in-situ, one was broken, four were prostrate, and four had been removed. borlase and lukis noted 17 standing stones. barnatt records (1982) it as an ovoid stone circle with a diameter of between 21.3m by 20.1m. the stones stand between 1.43m and 0.76m high with the highest on the western arc of the perimeter, and fairly regularly spaced
