trencrom hill tor enclosure. the tors were first used in the early neolithic around 3800 BCE, and were later enclosed with stone-and-earth banks built between granite boulders and outcrops on the hill sides. such banks were not necessarily built to defend the special places found at their summits but more likely encircling to emphasise its importance in the lives of west penwith’s inhabitants at that time probably numbered in the mere hundreds.  they were sacred, human spaces, their stones and boulders revered and the enclosures only being entered on special occasions.trencrom hill, as well as carn galva, are noted for the preponderance of placed and propped stones - large sculpturaly-shaped granite boulders, stacked tors and water filled rock basins.
