situated on the moors above llangynidr. a distinctive slab of limestone 2.6 m high, about 40cm thick, narrowing towards the top and with pronounce vertical stratification when viewed side on. both faces are pitted with what appears like cup marks but are probably natural features. it sits on a wet sodden limestone plateau and within its own pool of water which gathers around its base. it was undoubtably chosen for its striking features and erected at this spot for its association with this water born place
